I moved to Ireland in 2002 after working in media and events in London. Initially I ran a small garden centre, but when a friend asked me to create their wedding florals in 2009 there was no going back, I was hooked…. Over the years I have trained and worked with some of the top names in the industry, and love that floristry is a continually evolving form – new techniques, styles, flowers and people, it will never get boring.
As well as being a florist, I am also a grower, and am proud to be one of the founding members of Flower Farmers of Ireland. I am passionate about sustainable floristry, all my designs are floral foam-free and wherever possible, we use Irish grown flowers and foliage. Here at The Secret Garden, we grow as much as we can so that from early spring through to late Autumn, we have a wide choice of beautiful blooms that can bring that extra dimension to the arrangements. As a floral designer, I specialise in natural, seasonal designs, and whilst I love using my own flowers, seasonal availability can fluctuate wildly, which means I also use imported flowers where necessary, direct from the Dutch flower markets. I am inspired by the abundance of my surrounding countryside, and love to forage, bringing nature and a bit of wildness into the designs too.
