I had previously done a post praising the delights of Doneraile Park. I haven’t had the chance to visit since, until last week when I was working in the area and decided to have lunch in the newly opened and refurbished Doneraile Court Tea Rooms as seen below.
But it is not the delightful Tea Rooms that I will be focussing on today. Just outside of the courtyard is a stunning lane with old walls on either side that caught my attention.
The big question for me, was what treasure lies behind these marvellous old walls?
And as you can see the walls hide an absolute delight that is currently being restored to its former glory.
I am delighted to see the investment that the OPW put into this hidden tarnished gem, and the gardens once fully restored on their own will be worth the visit. For more information of the historical element of the house and gardens just click here.
Thank you for you visit…. We would love to give a guided tou to you and your friends someday : until than

Visited the wonderful Doneraile Park today. Just got the end of the colourful Autumn leaves, I admired the carved seat and wondered who the craftsman was. It would be lovely to have a small plaque giving his name. Are there any seats planned for the park. The tables and seats at the beginning are great but a few more around the park would be great so that elderly visitors could sit and enjoy the views. Congratulations on the great work
